At Qloo we develop Taste AI, a technology platform that analyzes more than half a billion records on public figures, places, and consumer behavior to reveal patterns in preference and demand. Our API suite delivers these insights without relying on personal identifiers, and our recent Series C funding round has strengthened our ability to expand the platform’s reach across travel, dining, media, and retail. We are now looking for a Junior Data Engineer to join the team on a full-time, hybrid basis and help scale the data systems that power these capabilities.
Key outcomes
- Design, build, and maintain automated data pipelines that move and transform large volumes of information using Python, Spark, and PySpark.
- Monitor incoming data streams, identify quality issues early, and implement fixes that keep downstream analytics accurate and reliable.
- Partner with data scientists and software engineers to translate business questions into well-structured data models and schemas.
- Write unit and integration tests that verify pipeline correctness before new code reaches production.
- Continuously tune pipelines for improved speed, scalability, and cost efficiency while adopting emerging tools in distributed computing and data quality.
Requirements
- One to three years of hands-on experience in data engineering or a comparable role, including building data pipelines from initial concept through deployment.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline.
- Practical knowledge of Spark or PySpark for large-scale data processing.
- Working experience with both SQL and NoSQL database systems.
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow for scheduling and automating data jobs.
- Proficiency in Python for data manipulation and automation tasks.
- Exposure to AWS or another major cloud platform for storage, compute, and related services.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with careful attention to detail.
- Capacity to balance multiple concurrent projects and deliver results within established timelines.
- Professional fluency in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Additional experience with data-quality frameworks or monitoring solutions that surface anomalies in real time.
- Contributions to open-source data projects or internal tooling that improved pipeline reliability.
Compensation
We provide a competitive base salary along with the following benefits: hybrid work arrangements, a 401(k) plan with four percent employer matching, twenty days of paid time off, five paid sick days, twelve weeks of paid parental leave, ten or more company holidays, equity participation, and professional-development support. Health coverage is fully funded, and employees may add dental and vision coverage for a nominal fee.
How to apply
If this opportunity aligns with your background and interests, we invite you to submit your application. Our team reviews every submission and looks forward to learning how your experience can contribute to Qloo’s continued growth.
