The role

We are seeking a Senior Java Exchange Developer to join our Exchange Trading Squad on a full-time basis. This is a hybrid role based in the United Kingdom. You will be instrumental in re-engineering our global exchange trading stack, working alongside traders, quants, and engineers to support both spot and derivative markets. We are looking for someone who thrives on balancing ultra-low latency requirements with 24/7 system availability and scalability.

Core responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high-performance Java-based trading components, ensuring our code meets the highest standards for quality and efficiency.
• Take full ownership of projects from inception to delivery, including the enhancement of in-house shared libraries and the resolution of technical issues to protect revenue-generating processes.
• Collaborate across cross-functional teams to automate trading workflows and implement new features while maintaining a safe, robust, and well-documented trading environment.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should bring the following qualifications:

• At least 4 years of professional software development experience using Java.
• A deep understanding of object-oriented programming, advanced design patterns, and a clean, efficient coding style.
• Proven experience providing production support for business-critical services and a comfort level with high degrees of autonomy.
• Experience with automated testing and a desire to extend coverage for existing systems.
• Preferred experience includes working with Netty for asynchronous event-driven applications, low GC techniques, SQL, and web protocols like Websocket or HTTP.
• Technical familiarity with PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, gRPC, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and Python is highly valued.
