We are a tight-knit team of developers dedicated to building and maintaining a high-performance market data platform. Our work spans the entire stack, from creating client libraries and middleware based on 0MQ to developing web applications and managing large-scale data storage with Hadoop. We pride ourselves on fostering an environment that mirrors the collaborative spirit of open source projects, and we are looking for a Senior Java Developer who is comfortable working with dynamic languages like Python or Perl to join us on-site in Chicago.
What you'll be doing
- You will design, develop, and provide ongoing support for our client's complex market data platform.
- You will contribute to various system components, including client-side libraries, middleware, and web-based interfaces.
- You will collaborate with our team to manage data storage and analysis workflows using Hadoop and other modern infrastructure tools.
What you'll bring
To succeed in this role, you should be comfortable working in a Linux-based environment and have a strong grasp of development tools within that ecosystem. We value developers who are proactive, communicate clearly, and enjoy working in a highly collaborative setting. Please note that we are unable to work with third-party or H1B employees for this position.
Your technical toolkit should include the following:
- Expertise in Java, paired with proficiency in Python or Perl.
- Experience with technologies such as Kafka, Docker, Git, and Ansible.
- A background in network or system administration, which is considered a significant advantage.
- A passion for open source development, ideally demonstrated through contributions to projects, personal code repositories, technical blogs, or active participation in developer communities.
- Fluency in English.
What you'll get
You will have the opportunity to work in a professional environment that encourages knowledge sharing and technical growth. We appreciate candidates who are eager to showcase their past work, so we encourage you to share links to projects you maintain, code you have published, or any technical writing you have contributed to the community.
