The role

We are searching for an Intermediate Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a mid-level position based in Canada that operates in a hybrid work environment. You will play a vital role in maintaining and building client-facing components within our system, which currently consists of a retreating monolith supported by an expanding collection of microservices.

Core responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance, client-facing components within our existing technical ecosystem.
• Collaborate closely with the development team to ensure system reliability, service ownership, and the delivery of fully automated testing.
• Engage in rapid, continuous release cycles while mentoring junior developers and participating in rigorous code reviews.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• Three to six years of professional experience working within a development team.
• Strong proficiency in Java and the ability to adapt to new technologies quickly.
• Proven experience delivering reliable REST APIs and a solid understanding of database and query performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, AWS, and Docker.
• A deep understanding of scrum and agile methodologies.
• Comfort with direct client interaction and participating in on-call support rotations.
• Excellent communication skills with a proactive, transparent, and accountable mindset.

Bonus points if you have experience with email processing, serverless architectures, queuing systems, or if you have previously worked in the finance industry or a SaaS startup.
