At Pickle Robot, we are on a mission to transform the logistics industry by automating the difficult, dangerous, and physically demanding task of unloading trucks. Millions of containers are moved every day, and we use advanced AI, machine learning, and robotics to build systems that make loading docks safer and more efficient. By joining our team, you will be part of a fast-growing, venture-backed company that is building real-world robotic solutions that teams actually love to use.
The role
We are looking for a Senior Industrial Designer to join our research team on a full-time basis. This is an on-site role based in our Cambridge, Massachusetts office, where you will be expected to work from the office at least three days per week. You will partner closely with our engineering team to sketch, prototype, and develop the next generation of our mobile manipulation robotic platforms.
Core responsibilities
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to iterate on product concepts, taking them from initial design all the way to production.
- Perform testing, simulations, and prototyping to ensure our designs are validated and ready for real-world application.
- Develop detailed 2D and 3D models that translate abstract ideas into concrete, visually compelling forms while helping to define the identity of our product lines.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in design and a passion for robotics. We require the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Design.
- At least 3 years of professional experience, preferably within the robotics industry or a similar field.
- Proficiency in CAD and image processing tools such as Solidworks, Onshape, and the Adobe creative suite.
- Strong design communication skills and a portfolio showcasing your past work.
- A creative, empathetic, and analytical mindset with the ability to work as a self-starter.
- Fluency in English and a willingness to engage in occasional domestic travel.
Compensation and benefits
We are committed to supporting our team members with a comprehensive benefits package designed to keep you healthy, productive, and comfortable. Our offerings include:
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Unlimited vacation time, in addition to all federal and state holidays.
- A 401k plan with a 5% company contribution.
- Support for travel supplies and other resources to enhance your work experience.
How to apply
If you are ready to help us build the future of robotics and want to contribute to a mission that makes work safer and more efficient, we want to hear from you. Please submit your application along with your portfolio of past design work to be considered for this position.
