HV Engineer at Intersectpower

Intersect Power is a clean energy company dedicated to preserving our planet by developing and operating large-scale, grid-tied renewable resources. We are looking for a Senior HV Engineer to join our team and help us scale our infrastructure solutions, including solar, wind, and battery storage projects, as we work to decarbonize the power grid.

Responsibilities

• Design and review high-voltage transmission and substation layouts, including medium-voltage distribution and single-line diagrams.
• Coordinate technical requirements and project milestones with interconnecting utilities throughout the development and execution phases.
• Partner with external consultants, vendors, and engineering firms to optimize facility design and ensure high-quality project delivery.
• Develop and maintain technical specifications, design criteria, and testing protocols.
• Support the procurement process by defining technical requirements for EPC requests for proposals and commercial supply agreements.
• Serve as the technical lead for project financing and independent engineer diligence.
• Collaborate across internal teams, including development, land, permitting, and operations, to resolve regulatory and technical challenges.
• Maintain and improve internal engineering tools for complex calculations and system analysis.

Must-haves

• At least 5 years of experience managing high-voltage work or utility-scale renewable project interconnections for a developer, consultant, or EPC firm.
• Proven track record leading at least 5 projects through interconnection processes in markets like CAISO, ERCOT, or SPP.
• Strong technical expertise in power system design, including substation equipment, metering, relaying, and SCADA.
• Proficiency with steady-state modeling tools such as ETAP, SKP, and DigSILENT.
• Advanced organizational and project management skills.
• Experience with Excel and a solid understanding of system design optimization, cost drivers, and construction challenges.
• Fluency in English.

The base salary for this role is USD 90,000 to USD 120,000, plus a 20% annual target bonus.
