Since our founding in 2001, Mastery Schools has grown into a network of 24 K-12 public charter schools across Philadelphia and Camden. We serve more than 14,000 students with a singular mission: to provide every child with the academic and personal skills necessary to pursue their dreams after graduation. We are currently looking for a dedicated Human Resources Manager to join our team in a full-time, hybrid capacity to help us build a model urban school district.
Key outcomes
- Act as a strategic business partner to assigned campuses and departments by providing guidance on engagement, conflict resolution, compliance, and policy interpretation.
- Manage all aspects of employee relations, including conducting investigations and handling administrative or legal requests.
- Coordinate annual performance review cycles, including the development of training materials and essential resources.
- Design and deliver training programs on topics such as DEIA, compliance, FMLA, and ADAAA.
- Oversee complex HR projects from inception to completion while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
- Support the full employment lifecycle, including onboarding, HRIS management, and engagement initiatives.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of local, state, and federal labor laws, as well as teacher certification and highly qualified teacher regulations.
- Supervise HR interns and administrative support staff as needed.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED with at least six years of progressively responsible experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Human Resources, Business Administration, or Psychology with at least two years of experience.
- A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in HR management, operations, HRIS, or compliance.
- Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
- A high aptitude for data analysis and the ability to manage various data platforms.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to facilitate training for groups of varying sizes.
- A customer-service orientation and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Access to reliable transportation for local travel to various school sites.
Preferred qualifications
- HRCI or SHRM certification.
- Working knowledge of Pennsylvania and New Jersey employment regulations.
- Prior experience in training design and delivery.
- Experience working within an urban school district or similar educational setting.
