With a 138-year history, our K-12 independent school in Oakland, California, serves approximately 900 students. We are currently seeking a meticulous and organized professional to join our Business Office and help us maintain the high standards of our community.
The role
We are looking for a Human Resources Coordinator to join our team in a part-time, hybrid capacity. This is a mid-level position designed for someone who thrives in an educational setting and values administrative excellence. You will work closely with our HR Director and Payroll Manager to support the full employee lifecycle, ensuring that our operations run smoothly so our educators can dedicate their best efforts to our students.
Core responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end recruiting workflows, including the creation of job postings, tracking of applications, and the preparation of onboarding documentation.
- Coordinate essential pre-employment requirements, such as reference checks and mandatory clearances like Live Scan and TB screenings, to maintain full compliance.
- Oversee the maintenance of accurate and confidential personnel records while providing ongoing support for employee training initiatives and internal communications.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong background in human resources and a commitment to our school's values of equity and belonging. Required qualifications include:
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in human resources, preferably within a nonprofit or school environment.
- A solid understanding of California employment law.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and experience working with HRIS and ATS platforms.
- Exceptional organizational skills, a high level of discretion, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
