Our Capability Development team creates bespoke software solutions for clients within the cyber security sector. We specialize in C and C++ development across a wide range of platforms, including iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, and Linux. We pride ourselves on building robust, maintainable code that solves complex problems, and we are looking for a talented engineer who holds an active Developed Vetting security clearance to join our team in the United Kingdom.
What is this role?
We are seeking a Senior High-Integrity Software Engineer to join us on a full-time, on-site basis. This is a technical leadership position where you will work in small, agile teams of two to four people. Because we are led by engineers, we prioritize technical excellence and maintain a lightweight development process that allows us to see the direct impact of our work on a daily basis.
What will you do?
- Design clean-slate products while maintaining complete autonomy over the system architecture.
- Enhance existing products by adding new capabilities or replacing core components to meet evolving client needs.
- Develop quick prototypes to test the feasibility of new technical approaches and iterate on them until they are production-ready.
What makes you a great fit?
To be successful in this role, you should have a deep understanding of the platforms and tools you use. We are looking for someone with the following background:
- Professional experience designing and implementing complex solutions using C or C++, ideally covering both new projects and legacy code.
- Strong familiarity with platform APIs, development environments, and native debugging techniques on systems like Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, or Android.
- A history of leading small or midsize teams through the full project lifecycle, from requirements gathering to final assurance.
- A commitment to high-quality engineering, including experience with static analysis, code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration.
Please note that an active Developed Vetting security clearance is a mandatory requirement for this position.
What's in it for you?
We believe in rewarding technical excellence and offer a comprehensive package to support your professional and personal well-being:
- Professional Development: Access to an O'Reilly books subscription, regular internal technical conferences, and training opportunities to support your career growth.
- Time Off: 25 days of holiday per year plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase extra days and earn additional leave based on your length of service.
- Health and Wellness: Private medical insurance including access to online GPs, physiotherapists, and mental health support, plus an annual health assessment.
- Financial Benefits: An 8% company pension contribution, a company bonus scheme linked to our success, and death-in-service cover.
- Supportive Perks: Relocation assistance for qualifying moves, an enhanced cycle-to-work scheme, and generous maternity, paternity, and adoption leave packages.
- Office Culture: A modern office environment in the heart of Cheltenham, complete with free seasonal fruit, tea, and coffee, as well as regular company socials.
