The opportunity

We are searching for a Head of Web to join us in a senior, full-time capacity. This is a player-coach role where you will lead a talented group of engineers while remaining hands-on with our technology. You will be responsible for the growth and performance of your team members while ensuring our front-end platform remains a high-performance, frictionless environment. You will sit at the intersection of product, design, and data, helping to shape the future of how the world interacts with our library.

A day in the life

• Lead and mentor a small group of engineers, fostering a culture of ownership and high standards while supporting their individual career growth.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with our API, design, and data teams to prioritize features that keep Unsplash thriving and aligned with our business goals.
• Maintain and evolve our front-end architecture, ensuring it meets the performance needs of our users while championing data-driven decision-making.

Who you are

You are a seasoned engineer with a strong background in leadership and a desire to work in a fast-moving, collaborative environment. You communicate effectively in English and bring a deep technical expertise to the table.

• You have extensive experience building web applications at scale.
• You are an expert in modern front-end technologies, specifically Node.js, TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
• You have a solid understanding of functional programming principles.
• You are comfortable leading a team and taking responsibility for the professional development of others.
• It is a bonus if you have experience with search, SEO, or ecommerce features.
