Head of Security Operations at Bumbleinc

The role

We are seeking a Head of Security Operations to join us in a full-time, executive capacity. This is a hybrid role based in London, where you will report directly to our Chief Information Security and Trust Officer. We need a hands-on leader who can balance high-level strategic architecture with the technical expertise required to mentor a team of engineers and analysts. You will be expected to lead by example, contributing at the highest level while fostering a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement.

Core responsibilities

• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of technical security professionals, helping them grow along both leadership and technical tracks.
• Define our security standards and playbooks while owning the architecture and design of our security operations center, including the selection and implementation of new tools.
• Drive incident response and threat intelligence initiatives, including conducting tabletop and purple team exercises to ensure we are always prepared for potential cyber threats.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong technical background and a deep understanding of modern security practices. We are looking for the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent verifiable practical experience.
• Expert-level knowledge of SOC architecture, including SIEM integration, automation, network segmentation, and logging strategies.
• Deep expertise in modern operating system security, with a specific focus on scaled Linux environments.
• Proven ability to develop, automate, and measure effective incident response playbooks.
• Experience working with both open-source and proprietary security tools, as well as integrating threat intelligence feeds into automated workflows.
• A strong command of English to communicate complex security topics clearly and with empathy across our engineering and operations teams.
