Ethena Labs is at the forefront of transforming the financial landscape by building a suite of digital dollar products designed for the internet era. Our flagship product, USDe, is a synthetic dollar backed by digital assets that has scaled to 15 billion dollars in just 18 months. We are also behind USDtb, a fiat-backed stablecoin developed in partnership with BlackRock, and we provide whitelabel infrastructure for partners across the crypto ecosystem. As we prepare to launch two major new product lines, we are looking for a visionary leader to help us build the foundational infrastructure for a more open and efficient global financial system.

About the Role

We are seeking a Head of Platform Engineering to join us in a full-time, remote capacity. In this senior leadership role, you will report directly to the CTO and take full ownership of our platform strategy. You will lead a lean team of DevOps engineers while remaining deeply involved in the technical work, operating as a staff or principal-level contributor to design architecture and solve complex engineering challenges. Your primary focus will be to ensure our infrastructure is secure, scalable, and capable of supporting our rapid growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough gap analyses to strengthen our infrastructure, ensuring exceptional uptime for critical systems and optimizing monitoring tools like Prometheus and Datadog.
• Mentor and grow a high-performing team while fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Implement advanced security practices, including DevSecOps and zero-trust models, to maintain compliance and protect our platform as we scale.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• Extensive experience in platform engineering with hands-on expertise in cloud environments like AWS and GCP.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and container orchestration with Kubernetes.
• A proven track record in the cryptocurrency or centralized exchange trading space, specifically building highly available, low-latency systems.
• The ability to independently identify infrastructure bottlenecks and execute long-term strategies that align with broader business goals.
• A bias for action and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.
