Head of International Compliance at Kraken

The role

We are seeking a Head of International Compliance to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a senior-level leadership position based remotely within the EU, reporting directly to our Global Chief Compliance Officer. You will be responsible for overseeing our compliance functions across multiple regions, ensuring that our operations remain aligned with evolving global regulations while maintaining our reputation for integrity in the cryptocurrency market.

Core responsibilities

• Global Compliance Strategy: Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement robust compliance strategies, providing strategic guidance to Regional Compliance Officers to ensure adherence to local and international laws.
• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Regional Compliance Officers, fostering a culture of ethical conduct and continuous improvement while scaling operational efficiencies.
• Policy and Reporting: Oversee the development of compliance policies, manage regulatory reporting across various jurisdictions, and ensure consistent implementation of frameworks like the EU Markets in Crypto Asset Regulation.

Skills and experience

• At least 10 years of experience in a regulatory or compliance role within the crypto, fintech, or financial services sectors.
• A proven track record of managing global compliance teams and navigating complex regulatory environments.
• Comprehensive knowledge of anti-money laundering (AML) best practices, crypto asset regulations, and licensing requirements.
• Experience managing regulatory examinations and independent audits.
• Strong executive presence with the ability to present to Boards and influence stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams.
• Fluency in English is required, along with the ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed, global environment.
