The opportunity

We’re looking for a Head of Engineering to help us scale through our next stages of growth. If you’re an experienced engineering leader passionate about building and enabling high-performing teams, we should talk.

What you'll do

Build, mentor and manage a world-class engineering team.

Ensure the delivery of high-quality products at speed with ownership and accountability.

Work collaboratively across the organisation to ensure our roadmaps align with our top-level goals.

Oversee the design, development, and delivery of robust, performant and scalable solutions that meet our high standards.

Set clear goals and expectations for the engineering team, providing regular feedback, coaching, and guidance.

Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between squads and wider teams, aiding them in achieving their goals and addressing platform needs.

Drive scalability, performance, security and compliance across the platform, implementing best practice and ensuring continuous improvement.

What you'll bring to the role

You’re an outstanding people leader. You know how to build, guide and support teams of talented people in the pursuit of ambitious outcomes.

You have proven leadership experience taking high-performance engineering teams through a scaling period.

You’re able to get deep into technical problems.

You’re always pragmatic - you keep in mind how technology serves our users, business and internal goals. You’re not enamoured by the idea of technical purity for its own sake.

You understand the challenges of scaling platforms to reliably support millions of users.

You care about education and improving the lives of students and teachers.
