The role

We are looking for a Head of Data to join our team in a full-time, executive capacity. This is a remote position that requires you to be a strategic leader who can oversee our entire data practice. You will guide our efforts across data backend engineering, data engineering, applied data science, machine learning, and analytics. We are looking for an experienced leader who can bridge the gap between technical infrastructure and high-level product strategy.

Core responsibilities

• Design and scale our data platform and backend services to meet the evolving needs of our organization while ensuring high reliability and performance.
• Mentor and develop our technical leads and engineers, fostering an environment where individuals can grow and succeed together.
• Spearhead the development of machine learning models and generative AI features to enhance content discovery, personalization, and user engagement across our platform.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• At least 10 years of professional technical experience, including a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
• Proven experience leading and developing engineering teams at various stages of their careers.
• Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming using languages such as Java, Scala, or Python.
• Deep expertise in SQL, MySQL, and distributed systems within real-time service layers.
• Practical experience with machine learning, deep learning, statistical modeling, and working with large language models.
• A demonstrated ability to work with MPP big data platforms and real-time backend databases.

Compensation and benefits

The market range for this position is $205,000 - $223,000 USD. In addition to the base salary, which is determined by your specific background and experience, we offer the following:
