What you bring

As our Head of Data and AI Platform Engineering, you will step into an executive role based in South Africa. This is a full-time position where you will oversee the architecture, deployment, and maintenance of our core data and AI systems. You will be the primary bridge between our technical capabilities and our business goals, ensuring that our infrastructure remains scalable and high-performing. Your core responsibilities will include:

• Leading the design and maintenance of our data and AI platforms while fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Managing and mentoring a talented team of engineers to ensure they have the resources needed to deliver high-quality work.
• Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to translate complex business needs into robust, data-driven solutions.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate who combines deep technical expertise with a strong sense of integrity. Because we operate in the fintech space, you must demonstrate a high level of trustworthiness and a commitment to strict data security and financial compliance. You should hold a Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. We require at least 10 years of experience in data and AI platform engineering, along with 5 years of proven leadership in managing engineering teams. Proficiency in Agile methodologies, version control, and testing frameworks is essential. You must be fluent in English and ready to thrive in an environment that values innovation and industry-leading standards.
