Babbel is searching for an inspirational Head of Architecture and Principal Engineering Chapter Lead to help us break down language barriers through our global online learning platform. We are looking for a visionary leader to guide our engineering strategy and mentor our talented team while working with our core stack of Ruby, TypeScript, and AWS.
Responsibilities
- Provide lateral leadership and mentorship to our Principal Engineers to help them grow and innovate.
- Manage and evolve our Tech Radar to ensure our practices remain current and aligned with our long-term goals.
- Define the standards and guardrails for engineering excellence to ensure our software remains scalable and high-quality.
- Facilitate an Architecture Council to encourage cross-functional collaboration and collective decision-making.
- Develop a comprehensive architectural blueprint that keeps our platform robust and adaptable for the future of digital education.
Must-haves
- Extensive experience in a senior architecture or distinguished engineering role within a mature technology organization.
- A strong background in leading high-performing engineering teams with a focus on cloud-based system design, preferably using AWS.
- Practical proficiency in Ruby and TypeScript, with the ability to guide teams working in these technologies.
- A strategic mindset capable of balancing long-term technical vision with practical, day-to-day implementation.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
- A dedication to inclusive leadership and fostering an environment where every team member feels empowered.
