At Reach, we are building the future of energy infrastructure by developing technology for the long-range, wireless transfer of power. We believe that wireless energy will be as transformative for power systems as WiFi was for data, and we are working to replace the aging electrical grid with our innovative solutions. Backed by top-tier venture capital and currently deploying our technology with real-world customers, we are expanding our exceptional team to turn this vision into a reality.
The role
We are seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in the United States. In this role, you will serve as a key contributor to our hardware engineering efforts, taking ownership of significant projects and developing robust systems that power our wireless network. You will have a high degree of agency, allowing you to make impactful decisions and solve complex technical challenges in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Core responsibilities
- Lead the investigation and development of our core technology through hands-on engineering and the creation of proofs of concept for future product generations.
- Manage the end-to-end hardware design process, including schematic capture, PCB layout, board bring-up, and the development of bring-up code in collaboration with our firmware team.
- Drive the hardware development cycle from initial concept through to final product release, while working closely with project management to establish timelines and support field testing.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering or embedded systems.
- At least five years of professional experience in hardware development.
- Strong expertise in embedded electronics, microcontrollers, and peripherals.
- Proficiency in scripting or programming for board bring-up using embedded C, Python, or similar languages.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting systems involving power management, power conversion, and communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, JTAG, UART, USB, and BLE or Wi-Fi.
- Familiarity with RF concepts and the full hardware design lifecycle, from initial concept to production-ready system integration.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, paired with a proactive mindset and a strong sense of ownership.
Bonus points for candidates with experience in RF applications or those who have previously thrived in a small, startup-style team environment.
Compensation and benefits
We offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and long-term success:
- Equity compensation as part of your total package.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance with various plan options, including HMO, PPO, and HDHP.
- 401k retirement planning along with HSA and FSA options.
- Life insurance and long-term or short-term disability coverage.
- Unlimited paid vacation policy and flexible working hours.
- A hybrid work schedule to balance your professional and personal needs.
