At Level, we believe that the technology in your home should be as invisible as it is useful. Founded by former Apple engineering and product leaders, our team is dedicated to creating smart home solutions that are intuitive, elegant, and truly practical. By joining us, you are becoming part of the Assa Abloy family, which allows us to combine our design-first philosophy with the global reach of an industry leader. We are looking for people who share our curiosity and our commitment to putting the user at the center of every decision.
The opportunity
We are seeking a Hardware Design Engineer to join our team in the United States. In this role, you will be a key contributor to our electrical engineering efforts, helping us push the boundaries of what is possible in smart home hardware. You will be responsible for justifying the technologies we choose and ensuring our products excel in critical areas like power efficiency, physical footprint, and RF performance. You will work closely with our cross-functional teams to take ideas from initial concepts all the way to mass production.
A day in the life
- You will take ownership of high-level hardware system architecture and schematics while maintaining all necessary documentation, including BOMs and layout files.
- You will spend time at the lab bench building, assembling, and testing product prototypes, which includes hand soldering, reflow, and board bring-up.
- You will collaborate daily with our mechanical and firmware engineering teams to integrate requirements and solve complex design challenges.
Who you are
You are a mid-level engineer with at least two years of experience and a track record of successfully shipping at least one product. You possess a deep understanding of digital and analog fundamentals and are comfortable working in an on-site environment. Your background includes:
- Proficiency with schematic entry and PCB layout software.
- Experience optimizing low-power electronics and battery consumption.
- Skill in using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and battery analyzers.
- A self-motivated mindset with the ability to communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Fluency in English.
Why you'll love it here
We are a team that values empathy, curiosity, and the courage to challenge existing standards. By joining us, you will have the chance to work on products that redefine the smart home ecosystem. We offer a collaborative environment where your insights will directly influence the elegance and utility of the solutions we bring into people's homes. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer and are committed to building a diverse team that reflects the people we serve.
