At Change.org, we believe in a world where no one is powerless. As the world's largest nonprofit-owned tech platform for civic action, we empower 100 million monthly users to launch over 50,000 campaigns every month. Whether it is fighting corruption in Brazil or strengthening hate crime legislation in South Africa, our users achieve victories for change once every hour. We are currently embarking on an ambitious new strategy to scale our impact, and we are looking for passionate people to help us bring more users to our platform to support the causes that matter most to them.
The opportunity
We are searching for a Growth Engineering Manager to lead, scale, and maintain a high-performing team. This role is central to our mission, as you will focus on driving our key metrics of petition creation and effectiveness. You will join a small, collaborative group consisting of a product manager, a designer, and an engineer. As we grow, you will transition from being a primary code contributor to a leader who mentors and supports a larger engineering team. This is a full-time, remote position where you will define tactics, set goals, and ensure our technical execution remains top-tier.
A day in the life
- Collaborate closely with product and design partners to define quarterly objectives, scope projects, and break them down into actionable plans.
- Serve as a hands-on technical leader, contributing to our full-stack architecture using Ruby on Rails, NodeJS, React, TypeScript, and GraphQL.
- Foster a culture of high performance and impact by mentoring engineers, refining team organization, and using data to validate experiments before scaling.
Who you are
You are a seasoned leader with a strong technical background and a passion for civic tech. You communicate clearly in English and thrive in a remote, global environment. Your background includes:
- At least 3 years of direct management experience and 5 to 8 years of experience with backend technologies.
- Extensive experience with SQL databases, API development, and building web services at scale.
- A proven track record of growing website traffic and using analytics to drive decision-making.
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to partner effectively across engineering, product, and design functions.
Why you'll love it here
We are a mission-driven company that values our people as much as our impact. For this role, the annual salary is $209,000 USD. Beyond the compensation, you will enjoy a supportive, remote-first environment designed to help you thrive both personally and professionally. Our benefits include:
- Remote work flexibility.
- Comprehensive life insurance.
