The Wikimedia Foundation is seeking an experienced Group Product Manager, Contributors to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity. As the nonprofit organization behind Wikipedia, we are dedicated to a world where every human can freely share in the sum of all knowledge. You will lead cross-functional teams focused on the editing, growth, and moderation tools that empower over 200,000 volunteer contributors to maintain our projects. Responsibilities
- Define the vision and strategic direction for contributor experiences across our web platform, ensuring these efforts align with our broader organizational goals.
- Lead, mentor, and advocate for a team of product managers, fostering a culture of empathy, data-driven decision-making, and constructive collaboration.
- Partner closely with our volunteer community, engineering teams, and data analysts to build inclusive products that represent the diverse needs of contributors worldwide.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience in product management, including a proven track record of managing or mentoring other product managers.
- Demonstrated success in developing user-generated content products within a strong community-driven environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, paired with excellent communication skills to effectively engage with staff and volunteers at all levels.
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
- Availability for synchronous collaboration and critical meetings between 15:00 UTC and 19:00 UTC.
- Bonus points for experience with MediaWiki, open-source software, machine learning integrations, or active participation in the Wikimedia community.
What we offer
For applicants based in the United States, the anticipated annual salary range for this position is US$140,426 to US$219,724, with final offers determined by factors such as location and experience. For those residing outside of the U.S., the compensation will be adjusted according to the country of hire.
