We are the Wikimedia Foundation, the nonprofit that operates Wikipedia and the other free-knowledge projects visited by more than one billion people each month. We are hiring a Group Product Manager to lead four contributor-focused product teams and shape the editing experiences that keep volunteer communities healthy and growing.
Responsibilities
- Set the vision and product direction for contributor experiences across the web platform.
- Guide product managers on the Editing, Growth, Campaigns, and Moderator Tools teams toward shared contributor goals.
- Partner with API, data, and machine-learning groups on complex, cross-functional initiatives.
- Work directly with Wikipedia contributors and other volunteers to understand their needs and gather feedback.
- Mentor product managers on the strategic use of data and community engagement practices.
- Define and track key metrics that connect day-to-day product work to Wikimedia’s larger mission.
Must-haves
- Five or more years of product-management experience, including time spent managing or mentoring other product managers.
- Experience building user-generated-content products inside active online communities.
- Proven success designing and scaling mobile user experiences.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills that span both strategy and detailed execution.
- Clear written and verbal communication, comfortable working with staff, leadership, and volunteer communities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment and adapt as needs evolve.
- Fluency in English.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience creating products that serve multiple languages and geographies.
- Hands-on work integrating machine-learning or AI features into web products.
- Prior editing experience on Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, or similar collaborative platforms.
- Background in open-source software development.
- Familiarity with MediaWiki.

US$140,426 – US$219,724 per year for candidates based in the United States; pay is adjusted for location outside the US.
