We are Ramen VR, a small team of engineers and founders who set out in 2019 to build the next reality. Drawing on decades of experience at Google, Unity, and successful game studios, we are creating Zenith, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game that places players inside an expansive cyberpunk universe. Backed by Y Combinator, The Makers Fund, and notable gaming entrepreneurs, our goal is to deliver the most immersive MMORPG experience ever made for VR and desktop platforms.
Key outcomes
- Architect, prototype, and deliver networked gameplay loops and systems that function reliably on both client and server.
- Optimize client-side performance to meet mobile performance targets.
- Integrate VFX, SFX, lighting, environment, and character art assets along with their animations.
- Develop and script AI behaviors, enemy encounters, and monster logic.
- Design and program user interfaces that support intuitive player interaction.
Requirements
- At least one shipped gaming title, with VR experience considered a strong advantage.
- Five or more years of professional engineering experience.
- Extensive hands-on work with the Unity engine.
- Advanced proficiency in C# programming.
- Practical experience building networked game architectures.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with graphics APIs and shader languages.
- Understanding of game design principles and theory.
- Experience with networking frameworks or Unity ECS.
- Background in online games or MMO development, including client and server feature implementation.
- Technical art pipeline experience, including asset import, optimization, and collaboration with environment and character artists.
- Knowledge in game physics, game AI, game security, or netcode.
Compensation
We offer unlimited paid time off for all full-time employees. Team members based in the United States receive full health-insurance coverage for themselves and their dependents. Employees outside the United States receive an annual health and wellness stipend. All full-time staff also receive an annual technology stipend to support VR hardware or other work equipment. Hybrid work arrangements are available.
