Game Designer at Voldex

Voldex is the leading developer on the Roblox platform, reaching over 145 million monthly active players through hit titles like Brookhaven, Driving Empire, and NFL Universe Football. Since our founding in 2015, we have grown into a global team of 70 remote professionals backed by major investors like Andreessen Horowitz and the Makers Fund, and we are now looking for a Senior Game Designer to help shape the future of our sports simulation experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design and balance core gameplay systems, focusing on player progression and rewarding loops.
• Partner with engineers, artists, and product managers to build features that drive retention, playtime, and revenue.
• Create detailed design documentation that clearly outlines mechanics, flow, and development rationale.
• Analyze player data and telemetry to troubleshoot issues, validate design theories, and refine game systems.
• Contribute to roadmap planning and the development of live events tied to real-world NFL milestones.
• Iterate on game balance by incorporating player feedback and results from internal playtesting.
• Deconstruct competitive titles across various platforms to identify new trends and design inspiration.

Must-haves

• Extensive experience in systems design, progression architecture, and live operations.
• Proven ability to produce clear, actionable design documentation.
• A data-driven mindset with experience using metrics to inform design decisions.
• Excellent communication skills and a track record of effective cross-disciplinary collaboration.
• A genuine passion for sports games and competitive gaming environments.
• Strong interest in user-generated content platforms such as Roblox, Minecraft, or Fortnite.
• The ability to work during hours that overlap with the EST and PST time zones.
• Fluency in English.

Nice-to-haves

• Deep knowledge of American football rules, terminology, and fan culture.
• Direct experience shipping features or full games on Roblox or similar platforms.
• Proficiency with Roblox Studio.
• Background in free-to-play development or economy design.
• A degree in Game Design, Interactive Media, or a related field.
