Fullstack Software Engineer at Hivemapper

At Hivemapper, we operate a decentralized global mapping network powered by tens of thousands of contributors. We collect high-resolution imagery and sensor data, including GNSS and IMU inputs, which undergo sophisticated offline processing like 3D reconstruction and machine learning. Our platform provides programmatic access to map features such as speed signs and highway restrictions, serving a diverse range of industries including robotaxis, rideshares, and real estate. As we aim to grow our contributor base tenfold in 2024, we are looking for a senior fullstack engineer to join our team in the United States to help us build the next generation of map data infrastructure and navigation experiences.

Key outcomes

• Develop and maintain our next-generation map data platform.
• Apply your expertise across the entire stack, from raw data processing to final rendering.
• Create rapid prototypes for both in-app and in-car navigation experiences.
• Architect scalable systems capable of handling massive data volumes to support user-facing applications.
• Collaborate with our R&D, platform, design, and mobile teams to integrate real-time 3D data into interactive products.

Requirements

• Professional experience working with maps and computational geometry data.
• Strong foundation in data structures and algorithms, specifically applied to navigation challenges.
• High proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript for both frontend and backend development.
• Proven track record of building and deploying map-based products for large-scale audiences.
• Fluency in English.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience developing for CarPlay or Android Auto.
• Technical proficiency in Swift, Kotlin, Java, or Objective-C.
• Background in Spark, Hadoop, or Python.
• Experience deploying large-scale remote sensing applications.
