Fullstack Engineer II, Product at Khan Academy

Key outcomes

• Integrate state-of-the-art learning science into our product so that learners and teachers can identify and address learning gaps in real time.
• Collaborate with public school districts that serve a high percentage of students eligible for Free and Reduced Price Lunch to scale teacher and learner tools for millions of new users.
• Develop classroom tools that enable teachers to use Khan Academy strategically as a supplement to their instruction.
• Apply generative AI and large language models to create new product capabilities that advance equitable access to learning.
• Build and maintain scalable backend services alongside complex, stateful frontend interfaces that deliver reliable, high-quality experiences.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code that solves challenging problems and supports long-term platform growth.

Requirements

• At least three years of experience building and maintaining world-class product experiences for interactive web applications, including both scalable backend services and complex frontend interfaces.
• Demonstrated ability to produce clean, maintainable, and testable code that addresses difficult technical challenges.
• Strong communication skills and a consistent practice of giving and receiving thoughtful feedback.

• Proven cross-cultural competency, including self-awareness, awareness of others, and the capacity to adopt inclusive perspectives that support belonging across the organization.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience applying generative AI or large language models to product development.
• Experience designing user interfaces with accessibility as a core consideration.

Compensation

The target salary range for this position is $107,712 - $134,640 USD or $134,640 - $168,300 CAD. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package that includes a 401(k) plan with 4% employer matching, medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, generous paid time off, and flexible remote work arrangements that accommodate different time zones.
