At The Wanderlust Group, we believe the best way to improve the world is to encourage people to get out and explore it. We are an outdoor technology company behind Dockwa.com and Marinas.com, where we build marketplaces that connect boaters with marinas while providing the tools those businesses need to thrive. With a team of about 60 people, including 14 in engineering, we are growing quickly and looking for individuals who share our passion for building impactful software in a collaborative, high-trust environment.
The role
We are seeking a Full Stack Senior Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. This is a senior-level position where you will work within a dedicated pod alongside other engineers, a designer, and a product manager. You will have the opportunity to lead project threads and take collective ownership of our technology platforms. Please note that we are currently unable to provide visa sponsorship.
Core responsibilities
- Build and maintain high-quality software solutions that directly improve the lives of our marina operators and boating customers.
- Lead technical project threads within your pod and across the broader engineering organization.
- Collaborate closely with your team to maintain a healthy culture of continuous learning, testing, and proactive problem-solving.
Skills and experience
We look for candidates with at least 4 years of professional experience and a strong background in the following areas:
- Proficiency in object-oriented web programming, with specific experience in Ruby on Rails being a significant advantage.
- Experience with relational databases, particularly Postgres.
- Knowledge of caching and queueing systems, such as Sidekiq and Redis.
- Frontend development skills, with familiarity in React.
- Experience with observability tools like Datadog, as well as testing, debugging, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- A strong ability to apply critical thinking and systems design to meet evolving business needs.
Compensation and benefits
We are a fully remote team that values work-life balance and high-trust collaboration. While we work hard, we also make it a priority to gather in-person several times throughout the year to connect as a team.
How to apply
If you have a track record of caring deeply about shipping software that makes a real difference, we want to hear from you. Our interview process is designed to be transparent and engaging:
- A 30-minute exploratory Zoom call with our Talent Team.
- A 30-minute initial discussion with our VP of Engineering or a Lead Engineer.
- A relevant project assignment to complete on your own time.
- A team loop meeting via Zoom to discuss your work and meet members of our Engineering and Product teams.
Please submit your application if you are ready to help us scale our systems and support our continued growth.
