At AQEMIA, we are a next-generation pharmatech company dedicated to accelerating the discovery of life-saving medications. Our mission is to design innovative drug candidates for critical diseases, such as immuno-oncology, by utilizing quantum-inspired physics algorithms to power generative AI. By moving away from a reliance on experimental data, we have successfully built one of the fastest-growing drug discovery pipelines in the world. With significant financial backing and successful collaborations with major pharmaceutical partners, we are actively shaping the future of medicine.
The role
We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Python Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a hybrid position based in France. As the first person in this specific role, you will have a unique opportunity to shape our engineering culture, influence technical architecture, and set best practices for our growing organization. We are looking for an experienced professional who is ready to take ownership of our platform and drive our mission forward.
Core responsibilities
- Design, develop, and evolve the reliable, scalable services that power our biochemical algorithms.
- Lead full-stack development efforts by improving both our backend systems, built on Python, FastAPI, and SQL, and our frontend components.
- Act as a technical leader who defines engineering standards, makes high-level architectural decisions, and fosters a culture of technical excellence across the team.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience as a software engineer within an organization of 20 or more engineers.
- Strong proficiency in full-stack development, specifically using Python, FastAPI, SQL, and modern frontend frameworks like Vue.js or React.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and DevOps principles, including CI/CD and infrastructure as code, is considered a significant asset.
- A proven track record of leading complex technical projects from initial design to final delivery.
- Fluency in English, which is our primary working language.
Compensation and benefits
We are committed to supporting our team members both professionally and personally. Our benefits package includes:
- Hybrid work arrangements, allowing for flexibility in your schedule.
- Relocation assistance for those moving to join our team.
- Paid time off to ensure a healthy work-life balance.
How to apply
If you are passionate about using technology to solve critical challenges in drug discovery, we would love to hear from you. Our recruitment process is designed to be transparent and collaborative, consisting of an initial interview with your future manager, a technical coding assessment, a system design exercise, and cultural fit interviews with our leadership team. Please submit your application to be considered for this opportunity to help us change the future of medicine.
