Full Stack Engineer at medialab

MediaLab operates as a dynamic media and technology firm that specializes in acquiring and scaling global brands. We function as a hybrid of a private equity firm, a holding company, and an active operating entity. Our engineering team supports a diverse portfolio of applications that integrate with our internal advertising platform, which currently processes billions of impressions each month. We are currently seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. This role is fully remote, allowing you to contribute from anywhere as you help us build and refine products like Amino, our social networking platform dedicated to community building and shared interests.

Key outcomes

• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to develop new features and enhance existing product offerings.
• Create stable, scalable, and testable code while participating in regular design and code reviews.
• Manage deployments across both staging and production environments.
• Support system reliability by participating in our on-call rotation.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers to help foster team growth.
• Lead infrastructure modernization efforts by migrating our existing Python monolith into a microservices architecture powered by Kubernetes.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience within complex engineering environments.
• A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, alongside a strong understanding of dynamic programming.
• Extensive full-stack or backend experience using Python and React.
• Demonstrated ability to design and build real-world web applications and JavaScript libraries that maintain cross-browser compatibility.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies and comprehensive testing practices.
• Strong communication skills in English and a commitment to continuous learning.

Preferred qualifications

• Prior experience working on consumer-facing applications or web products.
• Proficiency in Golang.
