Frontend Software Engineer at Zoo

What is this role?

We are looking for a Senior Frontend Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. This is a specialized role focused on the intersection of complex UI and high-performance backend systems. You will be instrumental in developing our open-source CAD modeling application, which uses a unique, code-driven approach to hardware design. We need a seasoned engineer who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup environment and who wants to help us scale our technology during this exciting growth phase.

What will you do?

• Build and optimize the frontend of our modeling application, focusing on high-performance user experiences and seamless code-driven design functionality.
• Collaborate closely with our backend team to implement robust APIs and integrate WebAssembly to ensure our tools remain fast and scalable.
• Enhance our interface using TypeScript, React, and XState to maintain consistent application state while bridging the gap between user code and 3D model rendering.

• Substantial experience building complex, scalable web applications.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React, with a portfolio that demonstrates your ability to handle intricate frontend architectures.
• Deep knowledge of JavaScript, browser internals, and performance optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with WebAssembly and state management libraries like XState.
• Bonus points if you have experience with Rust, WebGL, CodeMirror6, or working with Abstract Syntax Trees.
