Frontend Software Engineer (Storefront) at Nautical Commerce

The role

We are seeking a Senior Frontend Software Engineer to join our team in a full-time capacity. Based in our Toronto office, this role is perfect for a product-driven engineer who possesses a deep passion for crafting beautiful, responsive, and highly optimized user interfaces. You will work in a hybrid environment, where we value in-person collaboration and typically meet in the office three days each week.

Core responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain our storefront experience, ensuring it remains a modular and high-performing template for our users.
• Design and develop accessible, performant React components by leveraging TypeScript, Radix, and Tailwind CSS.
• Collaborate directly with our customers to discuss upcoming features and understand the real-world impact of your work while using the Shape Up methodology to manage product delivery.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should bring a strong technical foundation and a collaborative mindset.

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or five years of equivalent professional experience.
• Proven expertise in developing Server-Side-Rendered React applications using Next.js or Remix.
• Strong proficiency in creating interactive, accessible user interfaces using JSX and CSS.
• A demonstrated ability to optimize web performance and debug complex issues.
• Experience with standard software development lifecycles, including planning, estimation, and testing.
• The ability to align with senior stakeholders on technical direction, even when navigating ambiguous problems.
