The role

We are seeking a Founding Security Engineer to join our team on a full-time, hybrid basis. This is a lead-level, strategic position based in our New York City office. You will be responsible for architecting our entire security program from the ground up. As we scale, you will transition from an individual contributor to a team leader, hiring and mentoring the engineers who will help you execute your vision for a secure, scalable, and compliant healthcare platform.

Core responsibilities

• Define and execute our comprehensive security roadmap, including the evaluation of emerging technologies and the establishment of best practices for data integrity and system availability.
• Design and manage security solutions across our hybrid environment, which spans both cloud-based digital products and our on-premise clinic infrastructure.
• Lead our incident response and regulatory compliance efforts, ensuring that we maintain rigorous standards such as HIPAA while fostering a company-wide culture of security awareness.

Skills and experience

• At least 5 years of professional experience in security engineering, with a demonstrated ability to maintain secure production systems.
• Deep technical proficiency with security tools like firewalls and SIEM, alongside a strong grasp of methodologies like zero trust and least privilege.
• Proven experience navigating compliance frameworks in the healthcare sector, such as HIPAA or SOC 2.
• A strategic mindset capable of balancing rapid innovation with necessary risk mitigation and vulnerability management.
• The ability to work from our Manhattan office 3 to 5 days per week.

Compensation and benefits

The annual salary for this position ranges from $180,000 to $250,000. In addition to competitive pay, we offer the following benefits:
