Founding Product Engineer at Imbue

We are Imbue, and we build AI systems that reason and code so agents can take on bigger goals and operate safely in the real world. Right now we are training our own foundation models and turning those models into working prototypes that we test every day. Our mission is to bring back the original promise of the personal computer: tools that give people genuine intelligence, freedom, and control over the work they care about most.

What is this role?

This is a full-time, on-site Founding Product Engineer position at the senior level. You will own the product from first user conversation through shipped code, shaping both the technical choices and the overall direction while the company is still in its earliest stage.

What will you do?

• Conduct user interviews, observe how people actually work, and turn those insights into rough prototypes that test new ideas quickly.
• Write production-quality backend and frontend code across web, command-line, and IDE interfaces, then delete anything that does not clearly improve the product.
• Build a repeatable process for collecting feedback, shipping changes, and iterating so every release moves us closer to software that genuinely helps users.

What makes you a great fit?

You are motivated by real customer problems and enjoy spending time with users to understand their needs. You write clean, substantial code across the full stack and are comfortable in Python. You can work independently, make thoughtful decisions without waiting for detailed instructions, and you either have founded a software product company before or are excited by the prospect of doing so now. Strong written and spoken English is required.

What's in it for you?

The cash compensation range for this role is $170,000–$350,000, with equity between $10,000 and $2,000,000. In addition to that package we offer a yearly professional-development budget of at least $20,000 for coaching, courses, and conferences.
