We are a fast-growing, YC-backed DataTech startup based in Toronto, and we are currently making waves in the global logistics and trucking industry. Our team is small but incredibly ambitious, and we are looking for a Founding Platform Engineer to help us scale our infrastructure from our downtown office. If you are passionate about building robust systems that handle massive amounts of data, we would love to have you join our journey.
What you'll be doing
- You will take ownership of projects designed to improve our data replication, storage, enrichment, and reporting capabilities.
- You will build and optimize high-performance streaming and batch data pipelines that serve as the backbone for our core product and API.
- You will design scalable storage solutions capable of managing terabytes of complex IoT and time-series data.
What you'll bring
To succeed in this role, you should have at least 4 years of experience in platform or data engineering, including 2 years spent designing pipelines at the terabyte or petabyte scale. You are comfortable working in a hybrid environment, as this position requires you to be in our Toronto office four days a week, from Monday through Thursday.
Your technical toolkit should include:
- Proficiency in Java and Node.js for writing clean, maintainable code.
- Experience with real-time data processing tools such as Kafka and Spark.
- A strong background in AWS cloud services and infrastructure.
- Familiarity with lake-house architectures and distributed systems.
- Fluency in English to collaborate effectively with our team.
What you'll get
We offer a competitive base salary ranging from $150,000 to $200,000. In addition to your salary, you will receive the following benefits:
