At Forerunner, we believe that climate adaptation is a vital necessity rather than a luxury. We provide local communities with the software tools they need to plan for the future, manage capital, and communicate effectively with residents and government officials. By helping municipalities access and mobilize flood risk data at scale, we empower them to protect their environments. We are currently looking for a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to join our remote-first team and help us bridge the gap between our platform and the systems our clients rely on every day.
Key outcomes
- Design and implement robust API integrations that connect our platform with external permit management systems.
- Create scalable, reusable integration frameworks that provide consistent value across our client base.
- Automate complex data workflows to support our GIS and Customer Success teams.
- Collaborate with our platform engineering and product teams to align custom solutions with our broader technical roadmap.
- Serve as a technical partner to our customers, helping them navigate their own infrastructure and data workflows.
- Establish internal best practices and documentation standards for all integration processes.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with API design, implementation, and integration, including REST services and authentication protocols.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript.
- Solid technical foundation in Bash scripting, GitHub, and SQL.
- Proven ability to automate tasks using reusable scripts and maintain reliable monitoring systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- A patient, customer-centric approach to solving complex technical challenges.
- Full professional proficiency in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with batch processing technologies such as Airflow or AWS Batch.
- Familiarity with AWS, Docker, GraphQL, and Node.js.
- Background in geospatial technology, such as Mapbox or ESRI products.
- Prior experience working with government software or permit management systems.
- Experience developing automated tests for integration solutions.
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $150,000 to $180,000. We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
- Remote work flexibility.
- Medical, vision, and dental insurance.
- Commuter benefits.
- Wellness programs with quarterly reimbursements.
- Flexible working hours.
