At Sift, we are on a mission to make the internet a safer, more trusted place for everyone. We believe that protecting businesses and their users from online abuse is essential to creating frictionless digital experiences. By leveraging our AI-powered platform, which processes over one trillion events annually, we help more than 700 global brands grow fearlessly. We are looking for individuals who share our passion for fraud detection and digital trust to help us build the tools and strategies that keep the online world secure.
The role
We are seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity. This is a high-impact role for an experienced professional who understands the technical and quantitative nuances of online abuse. You will act as a bridge between our internal product roadmap and the real-world challenges our customers face, helping them navigate complex threats while optimizing their business outcomes.
Core responsibilities
- Collaborate with our Trust and Safety Architect and Data Science teams to identify and proactively neutralize emerging fraud patterns across our network.
- Analyze raw event streams to uncover vulnerabilities, design effective tests, and implement technical fixes that sharpen our detection signals and decisioning logic.
- Lead forensic investigations during periods of high fraud activity, tracing attack patterns to their source and providing clear, actionable remediation steps for our partners and customers.
Skills and experience
- Five to eight years of professional experience in fraud, trust and safety, or a related technical domain, with a deep history of working directly with fraud data.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python, with a focus on using code to conduct investigations and solve complex data problems.
- Hands-on experience building with AI, including LLM APIs, prompt engineering, or agentic workflows to automate analysis.
- A strong grasp of machine learning concepts such as feature engineering, classification models, and precision versus recall tradeoffs.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical forensic findings to both engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders like VPs of Risk.
- A customer-first mindset, including the ability to travel up to 30% of the time to engage with our partners and prospects.
Compensation and benefits
We are committed to supporting our team members through a flexible work environment. This role offers the benefit of remote work, allowing you to contribute to our mission from anywhere.
