Formulary Operations Specialist at SmithRx

We are SmithRx, a fast-growing, venture-backed health-tech firm dedicated to transforming the pharmacy benefit management industry. Since 2016, we have supported hundreds of thousands of members by leveraging innovative technology and cost-saving tools to create a more efficient drug acquisition platform. We are currently looking for a Formulary Operations Specialist to join our team in a full-time, on-site capacity. In this role, you will act as our internal subject matter expert, working alongside clinicians to implement formulary strategies that prioritize both clinical quality and cost-effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain drug lists and formularies across our various systems to ensure accurate adjudication.
• Execute formulary updates and configure utilization management edits while coordinating with our engineering team on system enhancements.
• Lead testing initiatives and facilitate clear communication regarding program changes to both internal stakeholders and external partners.

Requirements

• You have 2 to 4 years of experience specifically within pharmacy benefit management or formulary operations.
• You possess a solid understanding of clinical pharmacy formularies, drug files like Medispan or First Databank, and pharmacy programs.
• You are highly proficient in Excel and the broader MS Office suite.
• You are exceptionally detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage complex workflows independently.
• A Pharmacy Technician Certification or Project Management Certification is preferred for this position.
