Overview
As a freelance, onsite Flutter Engineer, you will play a key role in the success of the development of high-quality mobile applications to meet the needs of our flagship client and their end-users. You will write clean and maintainable code adhering to VGV’s standards, ensure the performance and quality of your applications, and collaborate with many talented unicorns from engineering, design, and product management.
While this is currently a short term contractor role, there may be opportunities for regular, full time employment depending on performance and project needs.
Responsibilities & Expectations
Technical Excellence
- Proven professional understanding of fundamental software development concepts, particularly in object-oriented programming (class vs. object, public vs. private methods, unit and widget testing), as well as advanced topics (dependency injection, end-to-end testing, architecture, modularization, database design, REST APIs).
- Demonstrated proficiency in developing maintainable and testable codebases, with practical experience in building complex applications.
- Experience implementing pixel-perfect user interfaces and custom animations in Flutter.
- Proficiency using tools that enhance software development efficiency and quality, such as Git, command line, UNIX commands, and your preferred IDE.
- Ability to contribute code across multiple technology stacks, handling both simple and complex tasks.
- Skilled in providing effective code reviews to ensure high-quality output.

- You collaborate with your project’s team to provide detailed status updates of your work.
- You complete project tasks in a timely manner.

Qualifications:
- University Degree in Computer Science or related field
- At least 4 years of object-oriented software development experience, including experience building complex applications.
- At least 2 years of experience working with Flutter, including releasing Flutter applications.
- Proven ability to build maintainable and testable code bases with a deep understanding of software engineering best practices.
- Experience working with agile methodologies to drive project progress in a collaborative environment.
- Strong practical knowledge of advanced software development topics such as dependency injection, end-to-end testing, architecture, and modularization.
- Experience implementing pixel-perfect user interfaces and custom animations in Flutter.
- Highly collaborative, with a track record of working effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and product management.
- Proficient with tools such as Git, command line, and UNIX commands, and experience using your preferred IDE.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English to effectively interact with project team members and stakeholders.
Nice to have:
- Experience with native mobile development (iOS or Android) and/or Firebase with TypeScript.
- A GitHub repository showcasing at least one Flutter project, with extra kudos for projects using flutter_bloc and featuring a good set of unit and/or widget tests.
- Complete understanding of flutter_bloc and experience with critical third-party products like Firebase, Auth0, AWS, Google Maps, etc.
- Baseline or up to 2 years of experience with Rust.
