At Skyways, we are reimagining the future of air travel by developing fully autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles. We believe these systems offer a transformative way to move cargo and eventually people with unprecedented efficiency. Based in Austin, Texas, and backed by top-tier investors like YCombinator, we have already moved past the concept phase. Our vehicles are currently in production and actively serving paying customers, including high-profile projects with the U.S. Navy. We are looking for passionate individuals who want to help us build a transportation revolution.
What is this role?
We are seeking a Senior Flight Test Engineer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and is eager to tackle complex engineering problems. You will be working directly with our aircraft in the field, playing a critical role in refining the performance and safety of our technology.
What will you do?
- Collaborate with flight operations to manage aircraft configuration and perform data analysis, ensuring every test flight is conducted safely and effectively.
- Develop, execute, and report on flight test plans that directly contribute to our broader company milestones.
- Investigate aircraft anomalies by diving deep into flight data and recommending actionable corrective steps.
What makes you a great fit?
To succeed here, you should be a friendly, collaborative person who is genuinely excited about aviation and innovative transit solutions. We value technical rigor and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Your background should include:
- A Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
- Proven experience in aircraft guidance, navigation, and control.
- Strong proficiency in technical data analysis using tools such as MATLAB, SciPy, or Julia.
- A solid grasp of programming languages like C++, Python, or Rust, along with experience using Git.
- Prior experience in manned or unmanned flight test engineering is highly preferred.
- Holding an FAA private pilot license or a Part 107 certificate is a plus.
- Fluency in English.
What's in it for you?
Joining our team means you will be at the forefront of an industry-changing movement. You will have the opportunity to work on real-world hardware that is already operational and making an impact. We offer a dynamic, high-energy environment where your contributions will directly shape the future of autonomous flight.
