At Odys, we are working to transform the way the world travels by developing an advanced hybrid aircraft capable of vertical takeoff and landing. Our mission is to cut travel time in half on the busiest routes by utilizing city helipads and local airports, effectively making short-haul flights more sustainable. With over 40 percent of global flights covering less than 1,000 miles, we see a massive opportunity to remove the hassles of traditional air travel while significantly reducing CO2 emissions. Our team is composed of experts from the aerospace and deep tech sectors who have previously brought automotive platforms to production and developed various electrified transportation systems. We are looking for a talented individual to join us on-site in the United States to help us build, test, and refine the future of flight.
What you'll be doing
- You will create and refine strategies for flight dynamics modeling and develop methods for automated model validation.
- You will design, implement, and validate navigation, guidance, and control algorithms while integrating various system components into our full aircraft simulation model.
- You will work in close collaboration with our aerodynamics, mechanical, and testing teams to analyze data, define model limitations, and support the design of test rigs to gather experimental data.
What you'll bring
To succeed in this role, you should have a strong foundation in engineering and a passion for solving complex physical problems. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, electrical, or mechanical engineering, though an MSc or PhD is preferred.
- At least 2 years of professional experience specifically in control systems or flight dynamics modeling.
- Deep knowledge of aircraft stability, flight dynamics, and the analysis of nonlinear physical systems.
- Proficiency in feedback control system design and experience validating models against real-world flight test data.
- Excellent technical skills in MATLAB/Simulink and Excel.
- The ability to work independently in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
- Fluency in English.
Bonus points if you have experience with Python, C, or C++, as well as familiarity with VTOL aircraft, HIL/SIL/MIL testing, or aircraft system identification tools like CIFER and SIDPAC.
What you'll get
Joining our team means you will be at the forefront of a crucial stage in our product development life cycle. You will have the opportunity to expand your engineering abilities while contributing to a project that aims to change global transportation. We offer a collaborative, high-impact environment where your unique skills will directly influence the design and success of our aircraft.
