At Odys, we are developing a hybrid vertical takeoff and landing aircraft designed to transform how major airlines serve the world's busiest routes. By utilizing city helipads and local airports, we aim to cut travel times in half while making short-haul flights more sustainable.
Responsibilities
- Create strategies and methodologies for modeling flight dynamics.
- Analyze aerodynamic data to establish requirements for our models.
- Build automated processes for testing and validating models.
- Quantify and define the limitations and uncertainties within our models.
- Design and verify algorithms for navigation, guidance, and control.
- Work alongside our mechanical, aerodynamics, and controls teams to iterate on designs quickly.
- Integrate internal and third-party component models into our comprehensive aircraft simulation.
- Assist in the design of test rigs and methods to gather experimental data.
Must-haves
- A Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, electrical, mechanical, or a related engineering field.
- At least 2 years of professional experience working with control systems or flight dynamics modeling.
- A deep understanding of aircraft stability, flight dynamics, and control principles.
- Proficiency in modeling and analyzing nonlinear physical systems and aerodynamics.
- Solid experience designing feedback control systems for aircraft.
- Proven ability to validate flight dynamics models using flight test or experimental data.
- Strong technical skills in MATLAB/Simulink and Excel.
- The ability to operate independently within a fast-paced, on-site environment.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with visualization and modeling tools such as X-Plane or Flightlab.
- Familiarity with system identification tools like SIDPAC or CIFER.
- Background in prototyping flight computer hardware, including Pixhawk or Embention Veronte.
- Experience with auto code generation for embedded systems.
- Programming proficiency in Python, C, or C++.
- Knowledge of HIL, SIL, or MIL testing environments.
- Practical experience working with vertical takeoff and landing aircraft.
