Range Energy is accelerating the electrification of the heavy-duty trucking industry by developing powered trailers that connect to any tow vehicle. We are looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer to join our team in the United States to help us build the next generation of our products.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the engineering team to bring up electronic control units on our prototype vehicles.
- Develop safety-critical firmware for our ECUs and establish rigorous test procedures for system validation.
- Integrate third-party software stacks and modules into our existing architecture.
- Maintain high standards for development and documentation using tools like Git.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on prototype hardware in the field.
Must-haves
- At least 6 years of industry experience with a proven track record of shipping products.
- A degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- High proficiency in embedded C/C++ with a focus on high-reliability, real-time applications.
- Experience with communication protocols including CAN, LIN, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and USART.
- Ability to debug on target hardware using tools like JTAG.
- Skill in optimizing code for systems with limited memory and processing power.
- A solid understanding of bootup sequences and firmware update processes.
- Ability to work on-site and lift up to 25 pounds of equipment.
Nice-to-haves
- Moderate knowledge of electrical engineering theory and practice.
- Familiarity with automated firmware testing processes.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and CAN interfaces.
- Basic understanding of electric vehicle powertrain architecture and high-voltage systems.
- Knowledge of high-level protocols like UDS, J1939, XCP, TCP, and UDP.
- Experience with embedded Linux development and basic controls theory.

The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $220,000 annually, with total compensation determined by your specific experience and domain knowledge.
