Firmware Engineer at Pickle Robot

What you bring

We are seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. You will serve as the essential link between our system's physical I/O and our high-level applications, ensuring our material-handling robots operate with maximum reliability. This role is based in the United States and requires a hybrid work schedule. Your core responsibilities will include:

• Designing and implementing performance improvements for peripheral interfaces while exploring new ways to extend the capabilities of our existing robotic hardware.
• Collaborating closely with our hardware and software teams to build robust APIs that connect our peripherals to our Python-based, distributed platform.
• Developing custom Python scripts to streamline our automation, testing, and data collection processes.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have at least five years of professional software development experience, specifically with processing physical system inputs and outputs. You must be highly proficient in Python, object-oriented programming, and GitHub. We are looking for someone who is comfortable using an oscilloscope to debug hardware issues and who possesses the technical curiosity to master complex peripheral manuals. You should hold a Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or have equivalent practical experience. Because this role requires hands-on work with our robots, you will need to be on-site at our Cambridge and Charlestown, Massachusetts offices at least three days per week. Strong communication skills and a passion for innovation are essential for collaborating across our multidisciplinary teams.
