What is this role?
We are looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer to join our team as a contractor. This is a remote position based in the United States. We are specifically looking for candidates who reside in the U.S. and are authorized to work here without sponsorship. While the role is remote, we have a preference for candidates located in the Pacific Standard Time zone to ensure smooth collaboration.
What will you do?
- Develop and enhance the functionality of our leading LTE Dashcam product using C and C++, covering everything from connectivity to complex video pipelines.
- Work directly with our hardware and software vendors to submit patches and resolve technical roadblocks.
- Manage and resolve firmware-related tickets by performing deep debugging and troubleshooting to ensure our products remain stable and reliable for our customers.

You are a technical expert who enjoys solving complex hardware challenges. To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:
- Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming using tools like GCC, KEIL, or IAR.
- Extensive experience with IoT platforms, including communication protocols like LTE and Bluetooth.
- A deep understanding of debugging distributed systems that involve both multi-processor devices and cloud connectivity.
- Proven ability to perform hardware diagnostics and resolve issues within telematics or automotive systems.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset when handling support tickets.
- Ideally, you have at least five years of experience in hardware telematics or cellular-connected IoT, and familiarity with Ambarella or Qualcomm modem chipsets is a plus.
