Field Commissioning Engineer at ScaleMicrogridSolutions

We are searching for a Field Commissioning Engineer to join our team in a full-time capacity. At Scale Microgrids, we operate as a fully integrated distributed energy platform, designing and financing clean energy solutions that help our customers transition toward a more resilient and decentralized power future. Backed by a 500 million dollar equity commitment from Warburg Pincus, we are expanding rapidly and need a motivated professional to support our distributed generation projects, including solar, energy storage, and microgrid assets. While this role is remote, it requires significant travel to project sites and our factory in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

• Lead factory testing of equipment by managing software setups for PLCs and controls, monitoring test data, and ensuring all sensors and communication systems are fully functional.
• Execute on-site commissioning, start-up, and repair services, which includes calibrating components, testing circuits, and performing necessary warranty work.
• Provide expert technical support and training to customers, while analyzing complex machinery issues to develop effective solutions and maintain strong client relationships.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this senior-level role will possess a strong technical background and a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset. We require the following qualifications:

• A two-year degree or technical certification in an electrical-related program, or at least 5 years of professional experience as a field or shop electrical technician.
• Proven expertise in control circuits, PLCs, gas engine controls, switchgear, and solar inverter systems.
• Knowledge of EGSA certification standards, as well as experience with protective relay testing and generator diagnostics.
• The ability and willingness to travel frequently and work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when project needs arise.
