Piaggio Fast Forward is a Boston-based innovator founded in 2015 by the Piaggio Group, the creators of the iconic Vespa scooter. Our mission is to transform how people move by developing robotic technology designed for dynamic, real-world environments. We are a team of creators and neighbors dedicated to sustainable mobility and social connectivity. We are currently looking for a Senior Field Application Engineer to join our product team in a hybrid capacity based out of our Charlestown, Massachusetts office. In this role, you will act as a technical bridge between our customers and our internal engineering teams, ensuring our robotics solutions perform optimally in the field.
Key outcomes
- Serve as a primary technical resource for customer installations, demonstrations, and trade show support.
- Triage and resolve field service tickets, performing the necessary analysis to ensure successful completion.
- Collaborate across internal departments, including sales, product management, and various engineering teams like SQA, mechanical, electrical, and cloud.
- Develop expertise in our kilo robot, Pro App, and web management solutions to provide high-level training and documentation.
- Identify and document product improvement opportunities based on direct field experience and customer feedback.
- Manage up to 50% travel requirements to conduct site visits, data collection, and issue investigations.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience within 3PL, warehouse, or logistics operations.
- Strong technical proficiency in robotics and automation systems, including experience with ROS, sensors like Lidar and cameras, and hardware integration.
- Solid understanding of networking technologies such as routers, Wi-Fi, switches, and firewalls.
- Working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems, with scripting skills considered a plus.
- Experience with web services, mobile applications, firmware updates, and system diagnostics.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical information to diverse stakeholders.
- Physical ability to lift 70 lbs and move robotic devices during setup and demonstrations.
- Fluency in English.
