The role
We are searching for a Senior Engineering Technician to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis. This is a hands-on role where you will play a critical part in the development and construction of our Ultra Long Endurance aircraft family. You will be working directly out of our Emeryville, California office, collaborating closely with our engineering team to turn complex designs into functional, high-performance aerial systems.
Core responsibilities
- System Assembly and Integration: You will build, modify, and integrate mechanical and electronic components to create fully operational UAV systems, ensuring every build meets our rigorous engineering standards.
- Technical Troubleshooting and Configuration: You will be responsible for configuring firmware, calibrating flight parameters, and diagnosing system issues using specialized instruments like multimeters and oscilloscopes to ensure peak performance.
- Process Collaboration: You will work alongside our engineers to refine manufacturing workflows, maintain detailed assembly records, and ensure all wiring harnesses and subassemblies align perfectly with our technical documentation.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should have at least 5 years of experience working as a technician with robotic systems. We value candidates who are comfortable interpreting engineering drawings and are proficient with a variety of tools, including soldering irons, crimpers, and Dremels. You should be fluent in English and possess a strong technical aptitude for firmware configuration and system calibration. While not required, we hold a high regard for candidates with experience in Ardupilot, a background in building or flying model aircraft, or a Bachelor’s degree. Veteran status is also highly welcomed.
