At Calibrate, we are on a mission to fundamentally change how the world approaches weight. We believe that weight is a reflection of biology rather than willpower, and we are defining a new category in metabolic health. By combining clinical research with intensive lifestyle interventions, we help our members achieve sustainable, long-term health improvements. Since launching in 2020, we have grown from a direct-to-consumer program into enterprise channels, tackling the chronic disease of obesity for millions of adults. We are looking for passionate people to join us as we build the first value-based model in obesity treatment.
The opportunity
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of talented engineers in architecting and building scalable systems that support our mission. You will be responsible for balancing our long-term technical vision with the immediate needs of our product roadmap. This role is perfect for a leader who enjoys fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration, ensuring that our technical solutions are as impactful as the health outcomes we provide for our members. You will work on everything from our consumer-facing mobile and web applications to the internal platforms that empower our medical and coaching teams.
A day in the life
- You will mentor your team through high-level technical challenges, helping them explore complex problem spaces to develop effective, scalable solutions.
- You will partner with product and design teams to prioritize the roadmap, ensuring we balance the delivery of exciting new features with the necessary management of technical debt.
- You will collaborate with fellow Engineering Managers to refine our internal processes, improve our engineering culture, and ensure our work remains aligned with our broader business objectives.
Who you are
You are a seasoned leader with a strong background in software engineering and a passion for building high-performing teams. You communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and you are comfortable navigating the complexities of a fast-growing company. Your background includes:
- At least 8 years of experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 4 years in a management or leadership capacity.
- Deep expertise in backend development and a solid understanding of frontend technologies.
- Proven experience working with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL.
- Hands-on experience with AWS or other cloud platforms, including a strong grasp of cloud infrastructure.
- A commitment to security best practices and a desire to foster a culture of professional growth and continuous learning.
- Fluency in English.
