The role
We are seeking a Lead Engineering Manager to join our remote-first technology department on a full-time basis. This is a pivotal role for someone with at least four years of experience in technical people management. You will serve as a key member of our leadership team, balancing high-level architectural discussions with the hands-on development of our web platforms. Whether you are guiding a team through complex backend challenges or refining our front-end deployment pipelines, you will play a central role in shaping the future of our financial technology products.
Core responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a talented engineering team, focusing on the development and maintenance of our public-facing websites, affiliate partnerships, and online application experiences.
- Collaborate closely with product owners and cross-departmental stakeholders to align technical priorities, manage expectations, and drive business outcomes.
- Foster a culture of operational excellence by implementing engineering best practices, conducting regular performance reviews, and supporting the professional growth of your team members through individualized coaching.
Skills and experience
- Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript and its ecosystem, alongside strong functional programming skills.
- At least 4 years of experience leading technical engineering teams, ideally within the fintech or startup sectors.
- Deep knowledge of microservices architecture, backend languages, databases, cloud hosting, and infrastructure as code.
- Experience with distributed systems, interservice communication protocols, and observability tools for logging and monitoring.
- Strong technical writing abilities and a commitment to deliberate design through documentation.
- A proactive, positive attitude with a focus on understanding the business domain to deliver meaningful results.
