We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our team and help us continue to drive innovation in this space. This is a full-time, hybrid position based in New Zealand, with the flexibility to work from our Napier office or remotely from another city.

Key outcomes

• Provide daily leadership to our engineering team members and support the delivery efforts of our squads.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to foster career development, goal setting, and professional growth for Software and QA Engineers.
• Mentor and upskill team members to ensure continuous improvement.
• Champion agile methodologies by coaching squads and ensuring efficient workflows.
• Manage the recruitment process, including interviewing and assessing candidates to build a high-performing team.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Tech Leads to plan projects, manage cross-squad dependencies, and remove roadblocks.
• Lead departmental initiatives to refine processes and improve overall engineering efficiency.
• Work alongside Principal Engineers and Squad Leads to create comprehensive training materials.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of professional experience in software development.
• Proven background in managing and mentoring multiple engineering staff.
• Strong expertise in working within lean and agile environments.
• Excellent time management skills to handle complex projects and competing priorities.
• Familiarity with a variety of development tools and architectural patterns.
• A demonstrated ability to identify and implement quality improvements across engineering practices.
• Fluency in English.
